Jane came to music naturally with her father being a prominent composer himself, William Savage
She was both a composer and a harpsichordist and had works, mainly vocal and keyboard, published during her lifetime
Her work for choir, Hymn for Christmas Day, was rediscovered recently, and is believed to be the earliest known example of an anthem composed by a women for the Church of England
