During the resumed debate on the Finance Bill Sinn Féin's Finance spokesperson, Pearse Doherty TD got stuck in to the Minister for Finance over Water Charges. He described comments by the Taoiseach and other Ministers threatening increased taxes and reduced child benefit as "complete and utter scaremongering." He went on to say it was a "sign of desperation from a desperate government that is simply out of touch with the people", before outlining that there were alternatives to the introduction of Water Charges.
