How To Reset VW Airbag Light Using VCDS/VAG-COM (Clear SRS Faults)

Is the yellow or red airbag warning light stuck on or blinking on your Volkswagen (Jetta, Golf, Passat, Tiguan, Beetle, etc.)? This light means the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) has a detected fault and your airbags may be disabled—it's a serious safety issue!

This tutorial shows you the ONLY reliable way to reset this specific warning light on most modern VW vehicles: by using an advanced diagnostic tool like VCDS (VAG-COM) or OBDeleven. Note: Generic OBD2 scanners CANNOT communicate with the SRS module and will not clear this code.

⚠️ SAFETY FIRST:

DIAGNOSE BEFORE RESETTING! The light is on for a reason (e.g., bad sensor, faulty wiring, low seat voltage). You must troubleshoot and physically fix the underlying issue first, or the light will immediately return.

If the airbag has deployed, the module (and airbags) must be replaced—a simple reset will not fix it.
