The goal of this lecture is to give an overview of the simulation of Hamiltonian dynamics on a quantum computer. We will explore physical applications of Hamiltonian dynamics and quantum computing algorithms for its simulation. We will then explore the use of Hamiltonian dynamics as a subroutine in quantum algorithms to approximate the Hamiltonian eigenstates of a quantum system.
