Jungle Hunt - Atarisoft 1983 (Commodore 64)
Background: Atari started releasing ported version of their most popular games on competing platforms. Some games were direct arcade ports from other companies where Atari had licensing agreements. All of the Atarisoft games were developed by third parties and varied in quality.
Jungle Hunt was developed by Taito for the arcades and released in 1982. You are a jungle explorer moving through screens to rescue a woman from cannibals. You must swing vines, swim through a crocodile-infested waters, avoid rolling boulders, and hop over cannibals to rescue her. The Commodore 64 version, coded by Bill Bogenreif, is a descent port and does contain all 4 screens of play but is rather odd to control and can be unforgiving at times.
