Pritam Singh never assumed Leader of the Opposition role was a ‘given’, he says

Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh told Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 14) that he never operated on the assumption that his role as Leader of the Opposition is a given - "nor have I hankered for it".
He was responding to Leader of the House Indranee Rajah's motion on whether he was suitable to continue as Leader of the Opposition following his conviction for lying to a parliamentary committee.
Mr Singh stressed that he still takes full responsibility for not responding quickly enough to correct Raeesah Khan’s lie in parliament in August 2021.
He added that, whatever parliament decides now, he will continue his work as an MP on the ground.
