On October 5, 2014, Dr. George O. Wood, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, spoke at Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville. Dr. Wood has had a long relationship with Rev. Hicks that spans decades. Wood's parents, who had been missionaries, sold their own church building to Rev. B. R. Hicks back in the 1950s. It was Rev. Hicks' first detached church building, and it marked a period of rapid growth for Christ Gospel Church. Dr. Wood recounts the history between his family and Christ Gospel Church, and he also paid tribute to Rev. Hicks for her work and hospitality.
Dr. Wood preaches about the Apostle John and the Book of John. He emphasizes the importance of practicing humility in falling in prayer before the risen Lord. He said that the Lord will give us a personal revelation, and He will call us to act according to His Will. Wood said powerfully, "The Christ of Christ Gospel is the Christ who always lives and reigns. He will always live and reign, because He is alive."
