President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the federal government would take over the police department in the nation's capital to help make D.C. safer and combat city crime for the next 30 days.
Attorney General Pam Bondi assumed responsibility for Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), with Terry Cole, the administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), supervising MPD. Gadyaces Serralta, who was sworn in as director of the US Marshals Service early this month, will supervise “command and control" as part of the effort.
