Do you actually have rhythm, or are you just good at reacting? Most people think they have good timing because they can clap to a beat. But science says that's just 'Error Correction'—your brain fixing mistakes after hearing them. To see the truth, we need to turn the sound off
When a metronome is on, your brain relies on external cues. When the metronome stops, you have to switch to an 'Internal Model'—generating the time from within. This exercise, called the Synchronization-Continuation Task, forces your brain to stop chasing the beat and start predicting it.
We are going to do 4 bars.
On first 2 bars The click is going to be ON. Sync your clap with it.
ON the last 2 bars, The click goes SILENT. Keep clapping exactly the same.
Your clap must land exactly on top of the returning click. If you hear the click before or after you clap, you drifted.
You know you do it perfectly when click and clap sounds like a single sound.
If you were early, you rushed—common at slow tempos. If you were late, you dragged.
Bookmark and practice this exercise 5 minutes every day until you confident enough, than go to level 3. Don't forget to subscribe, next the exercise will start.
