Elmir Omerovic is a senior consultant cardiologist and Chair Professor of Cardiology at the University of Gothenburg. He has been the head of the Heart Group at The Wallenberg Laboratory for Cardiovascular Research at Sahlgrenska Academy, Gothenburg, Sweden, since 2007. Prof. Omerovic is a board-certified cardiologist with training at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He has broad clinical and scientific interests in cardiovascular medicine, including prevention (hypertension, lipid disorders, diabetes), coronary artery disease (angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, acute post-infarction heart failure), and chronic heart failure. His research interests lie in Takotsubo syndrome, randomized, registry-controlled trials, and observational studies based on national cardiovascular disease registries in Sweden (SWEDEHEART). Additionally, he is a trained interventional cardiologist who performs diagnostic coronary angiographies and percutaneous coronary procedures.
