To reduce chemical dependency, protect soil fertility and ensure long-term sustainability, the Government of India has been promoting biofertilizers, organic inputs and balanced nutrient use through integrated approaches.

What stands out is the shift from product-based support to knowledge, quality and capacity-based interventions.

🔹 Financial Support for Biofertilizer Adoption
PKVY: ₹15,000/ha for 3 years through DBT for organic inputs & biofertilizers
MOVCDNER: ₹32,500/ha for 3 years to promote organic clusters in NE states

🔹 Science-Backed Practices
ICAR-developed biofertilizer strains for N fixation, P/K/Zn solubilization
Liquid biofertilizer tech with better shelf life & efficiency
Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) blends organic + inorganic fertilizers based on soil testing

🔹 Quality & Capacity Building
Biofertilizers standardized under FCO 1985 for quality assurance
National & Regional Centers of Organic & Natural Farming conducting trainings, demonstrations & awareness programs

Sustainable farming isn’t just about replacing one input with another — it’s about restoring balance, improving soil biology, and enabling farmers to make informed decisions backed by science and support systems.
