国営ひたち海浜公園のコキアの紅葉が始まりました。
今年のコキアは、10月12日頃に「紅葉始め」、10月17日頃に「紅葉見頃」を迎える予想です。
例年、紅葉のピークは1週間～10日程になります。
The Japanese name is broom grass, and in the past, the stems were dried to make brooms.
The fruit is called “tonburi” and is popularly known as “field caviar.” (*Kochia in this park is an ornamental variety)
Lime green kochia plants grow rapidly in the summer sun from early July, and you can enjoy their cute plump shape and soft texture. In early October, the leaves start to turn from summer green to autumn, and the gradation of green and red colors that change day by day is very attractive. It is also a truly spectacular sight to see the vivid autumn leaves coloring Miharashi Hill bright red.
和名をほうき草といい、昔はこの茎を乾燥させてほうきを作っていました。
実（み）は“とんぶり”といい「畑のキャビア」として親しまれています。（※本公園のコキアは観賞用の品種です）
7月上旬から夏の日差しを浴びてすくすく成長していくライムグリーンのコキアは、丸々とした可愛らしい形と、柔らかな感触がお楽しみいただけます。10月上旬には、夏の緑色から少しずつ紅葉し始め、日々移ろいゆく緑と赤のグラデーションの色合いも魅力的です。また、鮮やかに紅葉してみはらしの丘を真っ赤に染め上げるさまもまさに絶景です。
