"You Didn't Know" Animatic: JJK x Hellaverse AU (read desc)

Okay so this AU is very self-indulgent. I wanted to combine my favorite anime with a musical that I've been obsessed with and this is the result. I also really love the colorful and fun character designs from Hazbin Hotel and wanted to reimagine the JJK cast into that universe.

In this AU Yuji takes the place of Charlie. He is a half-heavenborn and half-hellborn hybrid created by Kenjaku, who is going to be the lesser-known Sin of Hubris. His father Jin was a high-ranking Angel/Seraphim whom Kenjaku tricked into falling from heaven. Sukuna, Jin's twin brother, takes the place of Adam in this AU and starts out in heaven but will end up in hell alongside Yuji. The other Seraphim featured in this video are Hana (taking the place of Emily) and Tengen (taking the place of Sera). Obviously I took a lot of liberty with Tengen's design, she is meant to look like her original human form rather than the form she takes in the manga. Her design is also reminiscent of my Gojo design for this AU because they are the two highest-ranking Seraphim in heaven. Also Uraume is featured as an Angel, but where I go with their character depends largely on what Lute's role in the new season is going to be.

The most complicated character to design was Megumi, since he was going to take the place of Vaggie and needed to have a connection to heaven. I felt that with Toji's heavenly restriction and profession as an assassin, it wouldn't make sense for him to be restricted to heaven or hell. So I invented a new category for him called a "Free Soul," which is a human soul stuck in limbo or purgatory. This would allow him to pass freely between heaven and hell, where he would take on assassination jobs with no loyalty to either side. In heaven he would meet Megumi's angel mom and would chill out for a few years, inevitably relapsing after she disappears (likely because of some unhappy customer or victim out for revenge). That would make Megumi half-Free Soul and half-Angel. Similar to the JJK canon Toji would resume his illegal work and face off against Gojo, who would then kill him. Gojo will vaguely take the place of Lucifer in this AU, except he is the father figure of Megumi/Vaggie instead of Yuji/Charlie. Gojo's goal is to reform heaven to be more modern, aligning with his goals in the JJK universe with Jujutsu society. As for how Megumi ends up in hell with Yuji, I'm still working on that. It likely will have something to do with Tsumiki, who may have been forced to fall due to being tricked by somebody (Yorozu, Sukuna, or Kenjaku). Megumi would then ask for Gojo's help in getting to hell to search for her and find a way to bring her back to heaven. As a Free Soul Megumi would have no problem existing in either place, but since Tsumiki fell from heaven and is now a sinner it would not be as simple for her. While in hell he would meet Yuji and sympathize with him as a good-hearted person, and together they would work to find a way to rehabilitate souls to get them out of hell. Kenjaku and Sukuna will of course do some interferring lol.

Anyways, hopefully that is enough background to make this AU make some sense! I've had a lot of fun thinking about it and hope that some other people enjoy it too. I may also illustrate an animatic for the "More than Anything" reprise since I love Chaggie-ifying Itafushi lol. Fingers crossed that the new Hazbin Hotel season gives me more to work with!
