On today’s adventure, join us as we explore this massive abandoned maximum security prison for women, formerly known as Dwight Penitentiary. This reformatory opened its doors in 1930 and remained operational for over 83 years before its eventual closure in 2013. Since its closure, this site has remained in use for police and fire training, however, in recent years this prison has become neglected more than ever.
This, overall, is a very large prison campus, consisting of many different buildings including various cell blocks, a school, a chapel, and much more. I thought there was a ton to see here and, overall, was one of the best abandoned locations I had ever seen. Join us as venture inside and explore this prison in all its enormity.
