“I Wildcamped on Helvellyn With a Stranger — Unreal Adventure!”

This adventure started most unexpectedly. After I posted my Malham Cove reel on Instagram, a guy I met briefly on the trail messaged me saying he loved the video — and somehow that turned into planning a wildcamp on Helvellyn together.

It was the day after England’s first snow fell on the mountains this winter, with cold winds coming down from the Arctic. He had a car, so getting there was easier, but I still had my doubts… hiking and camping with someone I barely knew, in –6°C conditions.

But once we started the climb, everything felt right. We talked the entire way, sharing our trail stories and past adventures. Reaching the summit was unreal — but the real challenge came after sunset.
The wind picked up hard, the temperature dropped fast, and by 6:00pm it was already pitch dark and freezing.

Pitching our tents in those conditions was chaos. It was my 2nd night using a trekking-pole tent, and with the wind blowing sideways, I could only secure one guyline. I honestly wasn’t sure if it would survive the night… and I won’t lie, I was scared.

But the next morning made everything worth it.

At 950 meters, surrounded by snow-covered mountains, we watched one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen — drinking hot chocolate together, no longer strangers.

An unexpected message turned into one of my most memorable adventures. ❤️⛺.
