Lyrics:
Cold blows that bitter east wind tonight
Siberian air has come and cut us all to size tonight
Heart is surely breaking a little more tonight
So long since my eyes have been on yours tonight
Wondering where you’re walking, where you’re talking tonight
Wondering if you’re singing to yourself, like you used to tonight
Wondering if you’re sleeping in your bed by candlelight
And wondering if you’re wondering yourself like I am tonight
And the leaves all red and golden fall down to the earth
Twirling in the sky, watch them dance down to their death
Change it can be beautiful, watch them as they go
Endings are beginnings of another kind, you know
But it’s cold blows that bitter east wind tonight
Siberian air has come to cut us all to size tonight
Heart is surely breaking a little more tonight
So long since my eyes have been with yours tonight.

This song was inspired by the pain of a relationship ending alongside the inspiration and invitation of truly facing the process of death and conscious endings so that we may emerge reborn and renewed. As always, nature is the great teacher. Watching the leaves gracefully meet their end soothed my pain during a challenging period and offered me a mirror of how I might surrender myself to the end as opposed to clinging, holding, and internally fighting to hold onto something that had ran its natural course.
