Advanced sorting of post-consumer flexible packaging | film sorting | TOMRA

Bakcycle Recycling in Türkiye produces high-purity and quality recycled LDPE granules from post-consumer packaging waste for use in flexible packaging production.

Flexible packaging, often composed of layers of materials like polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), presents significant recycling challenges. Bakcycle Recycling sought a solution to ensure the recycled LDPE in their final product was of the highest quality and met customer standards.

After consulting with TOMRA, Bakcycle Recycling installed three AUTOSORT™ SPEEDAIR film sorting systems. The first two units separate transparent LDPE from other materials, while the third separates transparent LDPE from transparent LLDPE. The line continues with two AUTOSORT™ systems that sort mixed-color and white LDPE. The company further uses the TOMRA Insight cloud-based data platform to streamline its sorting processes.

Thanks to the combination of TOMRA's systems, Bakcycle Recycling achieves 98% purity in the sorting process.
