Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid promises ‘safety net’ for Netanyahu over hostage deal

Speaking at the start of his party meeting in the Knesset on Monday, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said that he will provide a political safety net for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if a hostage deal triggers the dissolution of his government.

This comes after Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir threatened to resign if the prime minister agrees to make a hostage deal with Hamas.
