“Into the Deep” for cello and piano by Kensaku Shimizu, cello: Leonard Elschenbroich,

“Into the deep” for cello and piano, a commissioned work by the Bremen Music Festival and Leonard Elschenbroich, was world-premiered in the Bremen Music Festival in Aug. 2015. This world-premiere was broadcasted by Deutschlandfunk on 25th Jan. 2016. Then performed in many venues in the world.

This work consists of 2 movements and they are to be played without any pause. The compositional idea comes from the notion of my going down, and down to the deep inside of my soul, where the true meaning of my existence lies. As this work unfolds, my cry for the esoteric truth becomes intense, so is the expression of the cello. Toward the end of the work, the conscience that I normally possess, fade away, I no longer exist, while the truth reveals.

2015年8月にブレーメン音楽祭にて同音楽祭とチェロのレオナルト・エルシェンブロイヒの共同委嘱作品「チェロとピアノのための Into the Deep」が世界初演されました。

作品は2楽章に分かれていますが、全曲を通しで演奏されるようになっています。作品のテーマは、心の最も深いところにある本来の私自身への気づきの旅です。作品がひもとかれていくにつれ、私の意識は消えていき、神秘的な意味での私の本質が現れ始めます。それは熱情的な表現へと変わっていきます。
