"Shooting Gallery" is a shooting game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Master System. Released in 1986, the game is a simple yet engaging target shooting experience that takes full advantage of the light gun accessory, offering players the opportunity to test their shooting accuracy.
With eight rounds divided into four themes—birds, balloons, balls and pipes, and space ships—each theme comprising two rounds, the game maintains a rhythm. It then loops back with added difficulty. Each round sets a target requirement to pass before starting, and even a single miss of the required amount results in a "game over."
Incorporating new elements in each round keeps the gameplay engaging. For instance, balloons in rounds three and four move erratically when missed but are close, and spaceships in rounds seven and eight can only be hit when their shields drop momentarily.
Graphics are fittingly vibrant and cartoonish for a kids' target shooting game, accompanied by functional yet forgettable sound effects. However, Shooting Gallery is limited both in content and options. It lacks difficulty settings, potentially making it quite challenging for its intended audience.
