The Galleria dell'Accademia is one of the most prestigious art museums found in the city of Florence, Italy. Much of its fame is attached to the fact that it has harbored Michelangelo's masterpiece "David." It was founded in 1784 by the then Grand Duke of Tuscany, Pietro Leopoldo, in a bid to work as a teaching resource center for the students of the Accademia di Belle Arti, which was located just next door. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the most significant cultural and historical sites, attracting artists and lovers from different parts of the world.
