In this episode I interview Personal Trainer Jo Willey about prehabilitation (prehab) and how you can prepare your body before any kind of surgery. We have a bit of a giggle trying to pronounce “preventative rehabilitation” and question whether we made this phrase up… try saying it on a hangover…
We discuss how small, pre-op, daily exercises can speed your recovery and help with daily tasks post-op. We chat about how cardio and raising your heart rate prior (even taking a walk) will help you throughout. We specifically discuss the muscles to prepare for a mastectomy… and how you need to focus on core strength, legs and glutes. Stay tuned for example exercises by the fabulous Jo Willey.
Remember not to push yourself as this could result in injury. Focus on your mental wellbeing as well as your physical health and try something like yoga to ease you in. Please consult your doctor or own personal trainer before dramatically changing your exercise routine.
