Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Bearing Buddy Stainless Steel Bearing Protectors for the 2.441 inch hub bore. This is for a quantity of two protectors. Now, these are great for marine applications. The stainless steel construction provides the best in corrosion resistance, and the design of these makes the Bearing Buddy an easy way to protect your bearings by help keeping water out and ensuring enough grease is in the hub. These will replace the grease caps on your axle hub, and they provide your trailer bearings with premium protection.
They'll prevent wheel bearing failure by providing an easy way to control the grease volume in your axle hub. They'll help keep water and dirt out of the hubs and the bearings, and it allows your boat trailer wheels to be completely submerged. Also help stop corrosion and pitting on your bearings. Also, what's nice, if you noticed, has an easily accessible grease zerk fitting here, and that makes adding grease to the bearings very quick and simple. All you have to do is remove the cap, you access the zerk fitting, put your grease gun in there, pump the grease in there, and you're all ready to go.
It'll also maintain a slight control pressure, about three psi, with a spring-loaded piston in the inside, prevents your water from entering the hub. And if you noticed right here, it allows visual monitoring of your grease levels with this blue indicator ring. Basically, this ring right here will sit flushed with the top of the cylinder when it's full. If the ring is below the top, all you do is pump some grease in there to move that piston outward about 1/8 of an inch. This will also prevent overfilling and rear seal damage with the automatic pressure-relief feature.
Basically, the grease will seep around the piston edges and into the barrel when it's full. Now, it is constructed of stainless steel, so it ensures long-lasting fit over your plastic or aluminum products that are out there. We mentioned the protective covers that go on them. Once these are installed, you just put your cover over it, push it all the way down, and it protects any of the elements from getting into that. It does install very easily.
All you have to do is put it on your hub, and you do that by put this up against the hub, put a piece of wood on there, and then tap into place with a hammer, so you get an even installation of the Bearing Buddy onto your axle. These parts are made in the USA. Specs again we mentioned, it fits a 2.441 inch hub bore diameter. Now, this is also available on other diameters to fit your hub size for your application. And this part here works with the outer bearing model numbers LM-67048, 15123, and many others. And those are commonly found on the 4,400 pound, 5,200 pound, 6,000 pound, and 7,000 pound Dexter axles.
