Randy Arase Accordian Virtuoso: "There Will Never Be Another You"
At the time of this recording Randy Arase was 20 and an honor pre-medical student at the University of Southern California. For seven years Randy had been a student of Tito Guidotti and had been playing the Bassetti system for less than three years.
ln 1961, Randy won the championship in the top category in the Northern California Accordion Association competition. He went on to win the Western States Accordion Association top category championship in 1961 at Long Beach, California. In 1964, he became national Jazz Champion at the AAA contest held at the World's Fair in New York and at the same time became the Alternate Classical Champion.
His many California appearances included performances before the Los Angeles Bureau of Music; Valley State College; Screen Composers Guild; and many U.S.O. Shows.
He performed in March 1966 at a special meeting of the American Society of Music Arrangers. The membership of this organization included practically all of the composers and arrangers who score the Television and Motion pictures made in Hollywood. The main purpose was to acquaint the members with the many possibilities inherent in the Bassetti Free Bass system. Great interest was evidenced by the questions asked after Randy's performance of some special material written by Tito Guiotti.
