During World War II, the Allies invested enormous resources into strategic bombing. Entire cities were targeted. Hundreds of thousands of aircrew were committed. Tens of thousands of aircraft were lost. The goal was simple in theory: break the enemy’s ability and will to fight.
This video examines whether that strategy actually worked.
Rather than focusing on individual raids or aircraft, it looks at the strategic bombing campaign as a whole. Industrial output, morale, logistics, enemy adaptation, and postwar analysis are all considered. It also addresses the human and economic costs, and whether the results justified them.
This is not a moral judgment or a victory narrative. It is an attempt to answer a difficult question using historical evidence: was strategic bombing effective, and was it worth the cost?
