Agroscope researchers tested a GPS-based virtual fencing system for cattle with the aim of investigating the cows’ learning process and the impact of the system on animal welfare. The tests confirmed the system’s ease of use in practice. All cows learned to react to the acoustic signal and there were no long-term effects in the recorded animal welfare indicators.
