Finding the First Floridians is WFSU Public Media's look at the world of underwater prehistoric archeology in Florida. Because of its abundant waterways, Florida is a prehistory hotspot.
In chapters 1 and 2, we encounter a Florida at the end of the Pleistocene epoch. This last ice age is ending, a process that takes thousands of years, and which regularly sends the world of the First Floridians into upheaval.
In this chapter, we look at how culture groups such as Clovis, Suwannee, and Simpson reflect the climate and environment of their times, the chaos of the Younger Dryas, and the long period of stability that followed.
