Chris Gerdes is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University and Co-Director of the Center for Automotive Research at Stanford (CARS). His lab includes several vehicles Shelley - an automated Audi TTS that can lap as fast as a race driver, and MARTY and electrified DeLorean capable of controlled drifts. Chris has been recognized with a number of awards including the PECASE, the Ralph Teetor award from SAE International and the Rudolf Kalman Award from ASME. From February 2016 to January 2017, Chris served as the first Chief Innovation Officer at the United States Department of Transportation.
