In an emergency, communication is the first thing to break down and with it any plan quickly falls apart to incessant small changes. While having a good portable radio (walkie talkie), repeater station system, and clear system for “radio verbiage” is essential. The shoulder/remote microphone is just as essential. If you can’t hear and you can’t be heard through the microphone everything else is a loss.

Unfortunately, some public safety workers, and some administrators, neglect this critical piece of the puzzle leaving cops, security guards, EMS, Fire/rescue, and a wide range of other critical occupations without effective communication.
