How to make a low point REAL Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza for only 4 points on WW Freestyle. You CAN make this pizza for only 3 points per slice, however you'll have to use my 0 point ground turkey italian sausage recipe, available in my recipe book, "The Guilt Free Gourmet: 2019 Cooking Guide". Available on Amazon.
******* Recipe Video for Weight Watchers friendly 4sp per slice Chicago Deep Dish style pizza.
Servings: 8
Freestyle Points (sp's): 4 per slice
NOTE: If you use regular skim milk mozzarella instead of my ff cheese hack, the pizza goes up to 6sp per slice if you make all the rest of it exactly like I did. I know I said in the video that it only adds 1 point if you use regular cheese... I was mistaken, it raises it up 2sp
** Ingredients **
***** Ground Turkey Italian Sausage: 0sp
• 1lb extra lean ground turkey
• 1tsp ground fennel seed
• 1/2tsp garlic powder
• 1/2tsp onion powder
• 1tsp dried italian herbs
• 1/4tsp salt
• 1/2tsp dried basil
• 3/4tsp paprika
• 1tbsp beef or chicken granules (bouillon)
• pepper (to taste)
•2tbsp red wine vinegar, divided
• 1tbsp dried parsley
(Optional)
You can add some red pepper flakes to make it spicy italian sausage
stores don’t typically sell ground fennel seed. I bought a cheap $5 coffee/spice grinder off of ebay and use thst to grind up fennel seed from the spice aisle. The fennel seed is the key flavor for the Italian sausage 👍👍
---- Sausage Directions:
in a large mixing bowl, mix all listed ingredients EXCEPT for 1tbsp of red wine vinegar
let turkey mixture sit for 20-30 minutes, then cook in large pan till beginning to brown.
add the reserved 1tbsp of red wine vinegar to pan and stir to break up the meat and blend flavors.
remove ground turkey from pan and place into large bowl for later.
****** 15 minute marina sauce
NOTE!!!!
You can use a store bought 0sp spaghetti sauce, but i’m including my recipe in here. I didn’t make a fresh pot for this dish... i had leftover sauce in the fridge, but here’s the recipe for if you want to make a medium sized pot of sauce in 15 minutes.
No, this isn’t 100% authentic, little old italian grandma simmering tomatoes for 20 hours on a 300 year oven sauce.... this is “i have kids, soccer practice in an hour, but i want good sauce NOW sauce.” 👍
Note: the vegetables can be WHATEVER you have in your fridge, they don’t have to be exactly what i put. I use whatever vegetables i have on hand (within reason).... it’s all going to get pureed anyways.
Special Tools Required:
Either a regular blender, immersion blender (best), or food processor
Ingredients:
(1) 29-30oz cans of tomato sauce
1 medium onion, rough chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped
1/2 of a bell pepper, any color
2 tsp of chopped canned garlic, or 3 fresh cloves
1 carrot, rough chopped
1tsp granulated chicken broth
1tsp italian seasoning
1/2tsp paprika
1/2tsp garlic powder
1/2tsp onion powder
1/2tsp dried basil
1/2tsp salt
Pepper to taste
1tsp sugar (optional)
Red pepper flakes (optional)
1tbsp red wine vinegar
(You don’t have to be exact, add more or less, use diff veggies, it’s all good).
----- Sauce Directions:
Heat a good sized tall pot on med-high heat, when pan gets hot, spray with cooking spray and throw all the veggies de’jur into the pot and turn heat up to high. Cook them all for 5-10 minutes till they all start softening. Throw in all the dry spices and stir the veggies to coat for another minute.
pour in the tomato sauce.... the tall wall pan will come in hand as the first bit that goes in will splatter due to high heat. Stir sauce, add red wine vinegar.
turn off heat
use immersion blender to puree all of the veggies and sauce together inside of the pot.
taste sauce, season with salt and pepper to taste.
done

Watch the video.
4sp per serving prepared as it is in the video. Using skim milk mozzerella instead of using the FF Cheese Hack takes the pizza up to 6sp per slice, not 5 like I said in the video, my bad. sorry.
NOTE:
You CAN use regular skim milk mozzerella instead of the FF Cheese hack, however it will take the pizza up to 6sp per slice from 4sp.
