I recently had the opportunity to visit Herm Botzow's O Scale (2-Rail) model train layout in Southern New Hampshire. WOW, what an amazing layout! Herm's Buckeye RR is an imaginary line between Ashtabula, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His layout occupies his entire basement area, approximately 1,827 sq. ft. The length of the mainline track is 368 ft; the overall length of all the tracks on his layout is an amazing 1,542 ft. -- all of which was hand laid. New Englanders may also recognize three of his scratch-built buildings: the stations at Crawford Notch and North Conway, New Hampshire; and the station at North Bennington, Vermont. His layout features 72 locomotives & 377 rolling stock (all weathered), 193 structures, 40 bridges, 5 tunnels, 465 citizens, 201 vehicles, and countless trees along the hillsides and background.
