NAGS:
Performed in weight bearing.
Indications: elderly person, multidirectional stiff or sore neck, test for irritability.
Patient is seated.
Therapist gently cradles head for stabilization.
Patient’s head must be straight.
Grasp occiput with index, 3rd, and 4th fingers.
Middle phalanx of little finger will locate on spinous process.
Thenar eminence of other hand applies pressure on little finger in direction of treatment plane.
Very gentle force.
Most beneficial at:
C3‐C4
C4‐C5
C5‐C6
6‐10 oscillations
Reassess pain and movement after
applying NAGS
RNAGS:
contact articular pillars.
Reverse Natural Apophyseal Glides.
Patient is seated.
Grip: flexed index I/P joints, I/P joint of thumb extended, both MCP joints extended.
Location: C5 to T4.
Direction: anterior‐cranial.
Force: mid to end‐range.
Variations: Unilateral.
Indications:
End range loss of neck movement.
Postrual dysfunction forward head posture UT pain.
Degenerative lower cervical or upper thoracic spine.
