All Kula World Demos (incl. undiscovered Demo)

Today we are looking at three different demos of kula world/kulaquest/roll away! The last one is a demo that wasn't shown on youtube to this date at all! Let's go over some of the differences in each demo!

First demo from "Registered User Demo 02"

The game looks a bit different. The ball for example looks worse than the final version (misplaced shadow?). Also, the fruit order is random and the hud looks different. In this version, the score system isn't implemented yet. The bonus level is just a regular level that is from the second world of the final game. The second level seems like a bonus level in the final game, a win condition like that has been turned into the bonus levels we all know, also this level returns one time after this demo and gets cut after that. The third level is from the 4th world, but has ice-elements even though it is in the first world here. The menus are very generic too. In the three pictures you can see some cut themes and levels. The last one appeared on many different promo material and is even on the backcover of the pal version. Also the goal looks different.

Second demo from "Demo 1 Version 7"

I think this one is the most well-known demo. It doesn't have that many changes. The score in the hud has a different font and placement. The game logo looks different too. The goal is the same as the first demo. The second level is in the final game, but without the spikes. The watermelon model is different in this version. The third level is the last time we see that level, it was never used in the final game. The endscreen shows a cut leevel and ball (second picture). The first screenshot has a bonus ball and a level of the 10th world in the 8th one. The last screenshot has a bonus ball once again.

Third demo (undiscovered)

The demo is called "KulaQuest (Taikenben)" which translates to KulaQuest Demo. This is the first recording of this demo on youtube to my knowledge. It is a japanese demo with 15 levels, 3 bonus levels and one secret level. Except for 2 levels, all of them aren't in any version of the final game. This version is also really weird. Although it is japanese, it has the movement/controls of the other versions. The japanese one was inferior because every jump had to be done one by one, meaning you couldn't hold the X-button. Also this version has turn delay unlike the final japanese version (called "turn speed" here). All of this is really confusing because this has to be a demo that came after the initial release of KulaQuest, because it would be stupid to downgrade the game afterwards. The 8th worlds theme is different just like the final japanese version and this version also has the "kula menu" where you can color all zones of your ball by choosing the zone with the up and down keys and changing the color with the X-Button while square resets the color and O accepts.
