A big problem with many actors and writers is not having faith that the story they are telling is enough and they want to add to the story via added emotion. They don't believe that almost any story is worth hearing if it is told correctly and the best way to tell a story is with as few words and as few added emotions as possible. Anything that is not relevant may lead to confusion or distraction in the audience.
So writers should write as few words as possible, avoiding any distraction or confusion and actors should use as few of their own created emotions or actions as possible for the same reason.
