ඉල් පොහොය දිනය බෞද්ධ දිනදර්ශනයේ ඉතාමත් වැදගත් දිනයකි. මෙදින බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ පළමු වස් කාලය අවසන් කර දම්මචක්ක පවත්තන සූත්‍රය දේශනා කිරීමෙන් පසුව භික්ෂු සංඝයාට අනුශාසනා දුන් දිනය ලෙස සැලකේ.

ඉල් පොහොය දිනේදී බෞද්ධයෝ සීල රක්ෂා, ධ්‍යානය, සහ දාන පින්කම් කිරීමෙන් පුණ්‍යය සංචිත කර ගන්නා ලද දිනක් වේ. එමෙන්ම මෙය වස් කාලය ආරම්භ වන දිනයද වන අතර, භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා වස් අනුෂ්ඨානය ආරම්භ කරනු ලැබේ. ඉල් පොහොය දිනය බෞද්ධයෝට මනස පිරිසිදුව තැබීමට, ධර්මය පිළිබඳ අවබෝධය වර්ධනය කිරීමට, සහ ආගමික ජීවිතය ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට විශේෂ අවස්ථාවක් වේ.


Il Poya Day is an important full moon day in the Buddhist calendar. It marks the beginning of the Vas season, when Buddhist monks start their rainy retreat to focus on meditation and spiritual discipline. According to Buddhist history, Il Poya also commemorates the Buddha’s first sermon, the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, delivered to the five ascetics, setting in motion the Wheel of Dhamma. On this sacred day, Buddhists observe Sil (precepts), practice meditation, and engage in acts of generosity to accumulate merit. Il Poya reminds Buddhists to purify the mind, deepen their understanding of the Dhamma, and live a peaceful, compassionate life.
