I get so many questions about the intro music of my lessons that I thought it'd be fun to share the whole recording with you so you can hear what the entire song sounds like.
Some fun facts for you:
1. I wrote this song (Tune for Sunday) in the car driving to a bass show I was performing at. I needed a piece of music to play with the band, and while I was driving the melody of Tune for Sunday popped into my head, I pulled over and recorded the melody (me, singing into my iPhone!), then once I got to the show, grabbed my bass and jotted down some ideas for chords.
Total composition time - probably under 10 minutes.
2. This performance is actually taken from one of our courses within the Academy here at Scott's Bass Lessons called "Essential Groove Techniques". Within the course I discuss and demonstrate various harmonic and rhythmical methodologies that can be used when playing within a live setting. 3. The guys in this video had never played the song before, and we didn't have any rehearsals either. I talked them through the piece, they made some notes... we then went to run it through but I told the videographers to film it just in case. After the run through, we watched it back and I felt the energy was good enough that we could use that as the final take.
It doesn't always happen like that... but it's good when it does!
4. I recorded this same song with another line up. We had a different line up of players and changed the tempo slightly to give it a different feel... I was pleased with how it turned out. You can watch that recording here: http://bit.ly/2wsTJWe
The band is...
Me - on bass obviously ;)
Mark Walker on keys
Phil Arnold on drums
Hope you enjoy it!
As always, see you in the shed...
Scott :)
