Join Stephen and I for the wildest leg of the Mourne Wall adventure yet – where granite meets the sky and the weather fights back.
Starting at Carrick Little, I climb the mighty Slieve Binnian, scramble down the slope to Wee Binnian, and traverse Moolieve to the iconic Silent Valley Dam. But this isn’t the end—far from it. From there, I cross the southern Mournes via Slievenaglogh, hike across Banns Road, and make one final, gritty, exhausting ascent of Slieve Muck.
This is the Southern Crossing of the Mourne Wall—a section that challenges the legs, thrills the senses, and stuns with views across reservoir and ridge. Expect cloud- choked peaks, eerie descents, sunny valleys and moments of hard-earned silence.
Along the way, we discover fresh facts about the Mourne Wall, explore the legacy of the Silent Valley, and reflect on the builders who tamed this wild place with stone.
