MMCM - The Haunter of the Dark

He opens the wrong box.
A writer breaks into a ruined church and discovers a relic tied to an entity that thrives in darkness. Storms and a city blackout strip away every safe light. The presence closes in, and the story ends with a final report of what came through the dark.

A glow held my gaze.
My hands did the rest.

Street lamps blinked once.
Then they quit.

The room stared back.
