Paper choice matters.
The smoother the paper, the better your stamped image will look. If you’re using textured or darker paper, it’s a good idea to do a few practice stamps before committing to your final project.
Break in new stamps.
When using a brand-new stamp set, stamp it a few times on scrap paper first. This helps “break it in” and increases your chances of getting a clean, even impression.
Ink gently.
Lightly tap the stamp onto the ink pad—no pressing hard and no rocking. Too much pressure can cause ink to transfer to areas of the stamp you don’t want, leading to messy edges.
Use alignment tools that work for you.
Stamping blocks, grid paper, and stamp aligners all help, but my favorite tool is a stamping platform. It allows for perfect alignment and makes restamping easy if you want a darker image.
