I Climbed Indonesia’s MOST ACTIVE Volcano | Dukono, Halmahera

In this episode, I travel to Mount Dukono, the most active volcano in Indonesia, located in North Halmahera. Known for its constant eruptions, ash clouds, and unstable terrain, Dukono is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the country — and one that few people ever get close to.

The journey begins in Ternate, crossing the waters of North Maluku before reaching Halmahera. From there, I ride through remote villages and volcanic landscapes before hiking toward the crater of Dukono itself. Along the way, the scenery becomes increasingly harsh — ash-covered ground, sulphur in the air, and a landscape that feels almost apocalyptic.

This is not just a hike, but an exploration of one of Indonesia’s wildest and least-visited regions. From the lonely ferry crossing to standing on the edge of a constantly erupting volcano, this episode captures the fear, excitement, and raw power of nature in one of the most volatile places on Earth.
