Over the past four years, the practice of Karo-Kari (so-called honor killings) in Sindh has exposed a deeply painful and alarming reality.
A total of 595 people lost their lives — 466 women and 129 men — murdered in the name of “honor.”
According to Sindh Police:
2022: 102 cases, 114 killings
2023: 151 cases, 167 killings
2024: 132 cases, 152 killings
2025 (Jan–Oct): 140 cases, 162 victims — including 119 women and 43 men
Most of these murders happened inside victims’ own homes.
The accused included 294 family members, such as:
171 husbands
33 fathers
77 brothers
5 sons
2 mothers
2 sisters
4 daughters
These numbers reveal a harsh truth:
Karo-Kari does not protect honor — it destroys families, lives, and the moral fabric of society.
Human rights groups and social activists have expressed serious concern, calling for:
✔ Stronger legislation
✔ Effective enforcement
✔ Community-level awareness to break this deadly tradition
Ending honor killings is not just a legal responsibility —
it is a moral duty we all share.
