What is My Face Shape?

Before you can find your most flattering hairstyle, you need to identify what your face shape is. To do so, try taking a photo of yourself facing the camera with your hair tied back. Then, trace around the outside of your face and see which shape it most closely resembles. Alternatively, you can try measuring your face, focusing on the widths of your brow, cheekbones and jawline, and the length of your face from forehead to chin, to find its proportions. By doing so, you should be able to see which shape your best match is. For example, if your face is the same length and width, it is likely either square or round. Or, if your face becomes wider from the forehead to the jawline, it’s probably a triangle shape.

1. Oval face.
Women with oval face shape should not have boring, straight and long hair. For woman with wavy or curly hair and oval face the best haircut is the layered haircut because it will accentuate your cheekbones.

2. Round face.
If you have round face and straight hair the best haircut for you is the shoulder length because it will accentuate your cheekbones. It is the same haircut for wavy or curly hair but the only the difference is that for wavy or curly hair the shoulder length haircut should be layered in order to get pyramid shape – which will contrast the roundness. The structure of the bones will be accentuated this way.

3. Heart-shaped face.
Heart-shaped faces are wider at the brow and narrower at the chin, which typically adds up to killer cheekbones. Here, a few guidelines for the genetically blessed.

4. Square face.
If you have straight hair the shoulder length haircut is the best for you. This face shape has the effect of big forehead and many women try to do something about it. In order to minimize it you will have to place the bangs from one side to the other. It is the same for wavy or curly hair – the shoulder length haircut is the best although you can also try layered haircut with having a few short wisps falling through your forehead.

5. Diamond Faces.
Do you have a diamond shaped face?
If your forehead and chin are narrower than the central part of your face across your cheekbones, and it's angular, you are a diamond.
