Get ready for an exhilarating adventure! I'm venturing deep into the northern forests, where the path to a secluded lake winds through treacherous swamps. Not everyone dares to navigate this dangerous route, but the call of the wild is strong!
Despite the stormy weather – thunder, lightning, and whipping wind – I manage to land a massive pike. The breathtaking views of the lake, nestled within the pristine northern forest, are mesmerizing in their beauty and wildness.
Reaching a suitable campsite, far from the swamps, takes about an hour. But this time of year in the northern forests brings a relentless onslaught of midges and mosquitoes. I'm forced to don a protective mosquito net to avoid being eaten alive!
After a quick mosquito spray treatment and a change of footwear, I begin building a cozy bushcraft shelter using logs and a tarp. I gather firewood and build a fire. The smoke from the fire does little to deter the persistent insects, so I spend most of my time under the mosquito net.
A fallen log becomes my table, a rock my chair. I feast on freshly caught, campfire-cooked fish and smoked meat, topped off with a cup of fragrant forest tea.
During this time of year in the northern latitudes, the white nights arrive, painting the sky with breathtaking colors. Join me as we immerse ourselves in the beauty of wild nature, savor delicious meals cooked over an open fire, listen to birdsong, and bask in the tranquil silence of the wilderness.
