The Tamang Heritage trek in Langtang National Park, offers trekkers a unique opportunity to explore the rich and ancient culture and tradition of the Tamang ethnicity. The Tamangs trace their heritage back to the Tibetan plateau and share many similar religious cultural practices with Tibet.
Explore the ancient gompas, Buddhist Mani walls engraved with sacred mantras and colorful prayer flags that mystify the culture and traditions of the Tamangs. Stay overnight with a host family and explore the local villages and sample the local cuisine. The warmth and hospitality of the Tamangs will make your trip an unforgettable one.
Mountain Ram Adventures are specialists in organising and customising the Tamang Heritage Trek to suit your schedule and preference.
From Kathmandu, your journey will begin on a 4WD or public bus to Syaprubesi- a scenic journey passing the Trishuli River, picturesque landscapes and breathtaking mountain views, reaching Ghatlang for an overnight stay. Over the next few days you will trek to Tatopani famous for its hot springs, Thuman and cross the wide open hills of Nagthali and onwards to Bridim and Sherpa Gaun.
From here you will have the opportunity to join the Langtang valley trek at Rimche. The Langtang trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations after Annapurna and Everest Base Camp Treks. Langtang National Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife including the Himalayan tahr, deers, red pandas, yaks, snow leopards, migratory birds and langur monkeys. As you walk, you will witness first hand the destruction caused by the 2015 earthquake. As a result of the earthquake, part of the great Langtang Lirung mountain range broke off and a huge devasting avalanche wiped out an entire village- the rubbles of which still remain today.
From Langtang Valley you will be surrounded on all sides as far as your eyes can see, by the stunning and majestic Langtang mountains as you head to Kyanjin Gompa at 3860m. Stay overnight at one of the beautiful guest houses here or explore it's quaint village life. From Kyanjin Gompa, you can then take a day hike to Kyanjin Ri at 4770m or Tserku Ri at 4984m for the most jaw dropping panoramic views of the entire Langtang including the Himalayan glaciers.
