Canadian pop singer and songwriter Sarina Paris has never released a single in the UK, but she almost did. 'Look At Us' had been a top 10 hit in Italy (where her family originated from) in 1999, as well as doing well in the European clubs and going on to be an international club hit (Aus #39, US #59) in 2000. Signed to EMI in the US, British dance label Positiva (also part of the EMI group) licensed 'Look At Us' for a planned UK release in late 2000. Who could blame them? Two of the biggest dance hits of 1999 had come from Italy; Eiffel 65's 'Blue (Da Ba Dee)' (#1) and Ann Lee's '2 Times' (#2).
New remixes of 'Look At Us' were commissioned for the UK clubs by D-Bop and the Almighty team and circulated in early 2001, but the track was ultimately never commercially released here. Back in the US, Sarina Paris performed around the local club scene, and inked a new deal with Priority Records to record an album. The self-titled debut featured 11 new Eurodance originals, including the next single, 'Just About Enough', plus a cover of Cyndi Lauper's 'True Colors'. It peaked at #167 on the US Billboard 200. When reviewing the album, Billboard compared it to Eiffel 65, Sonique and Aqua. Also in 2001, Sarina Paris was nominated for a Juno award, sometimes known as the Canadian Grammy. She next turned up touring with La Toya Jackson in Hawaii during 2004 and continues to write and record, with sporadic single releases.
