What’s going on everyone it’s been a week since a VR related news video and I want to make this this a weekly thing from now on.

We saw new leaks regarding Meta’s Project Cambria since Mark Zuckerberg showed a demo video few weeks back. Project Cambria is Meta’s new high end headset that will be sold alongside the Meta Quest 2 with a price tag significantly higher than $800. The headset will be suited for work setting rather than for a casual VR/AR headset user. This headset is already confirmed by Meta since last October as Meta has send development kits out. User Brad Lynch on twitter post six schematics of the new headset. You can see some interesting features to include a dial in the front for possibly adjusting the lenses and a clip on the side for Oculus Link connection possibly. We still don’t have an exact release date, price or the actual name of the headset.

On June 3rd, Playstation hosted their State of Play livestream to give updates on the current status of upcoming games. They announced new upcoming Sony’s PSVR2 and PS5 games. The PSVR2 is Sony’s upgrade from their original Playstation Virtual Reality Headset to experience Playstation games in VR. New games include Resident Evil 4, coming out on March 24th 2023, Resident Evil Village or 8, The walking dead: saints and sinners Chapter 2 retribution, No man’s sky for PSVR2, and Horizon VR call of the mountain. They are all promising games I’m personally super excited for.

The TRIPP app on the Meta Quest 2, an app that allows you to meditate in VR, announced it’s securing of 11.2 million dollars of funding round which will be used to expand growing global demands. Big participants from the funding included big names such as Amazon, Qualcomm, and Niantic. This Los Angeles based company has 26.3 million dollars of funding to date. I don’t want to rule out the idea of meditating in VR but it will be a different experience. I hope that TRIPP can make best use of the funding dollars to create an awesome meditation experience on VR and AR.

Upload VR will be hosting their bi-annual game showcase on June 9th on YouTube. They will uncover the latest with VR gaming with a whole host of new games reveals, trailers, and gameplay. I never seen their live showcase so I’m definitely gonna check it out.

Next is First person tennis - The real tennis simulator.

They are rolling out the ability to track your Meta Quest fitness stats from VR to your phone. Once you set up the Move app — Meta Quest’s built-in fitness tracker lets you set and track how many calories you burned and how many minutes you spent working out in VR – you can choose to sync your Move stats with the Oculus Mobile App and Apple Health app. I think this is a great move my meta to move towards making VR and AR an everyday part of your life. I love playing thrill of the fight on my meta quest and this is definitely the right direction meta needs to be heading.
