Norfolk Southern P29 (the New Bern to Morehead City turn) on the former Atlantic & East Carolina between Newport and Morehead City, NC.
The 65th annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament was going on during that week of June, so downtown Morehead City was busy with traffic and festivities. Several banners advertising the world-famous tournament were displayed along Arendell Street and Norfolk Southern's EC-line.
After P29 arrived at the state port, Carolina Coastal Railway 8311 briefly went outside the state port yard for switching head room. The 8311 is fairly new to the Port of Morehead City, which arrived on the property back in March of 2023. The state port now has three Carolina Coastal switchers (8311, 106, and 486). A couple hours later, P29 is seen heading back west through Newport with cars from the state port and Hanson Aggregates.
