SORRY ABOUT THE VIDEO QUALITY HERE! (see below for details)
For the winter solstice I once again returned to Avebury, where I observed the sunset and (sort of) the sunrise at the famous stone circle. In between I returned to my favourite hedge for a wild camp, a bottle of Gevrey Chambertin, and a porcini risotto which turned out surprisingly well.
I used the tiny tent (Nordisk Lofoten ULW 1) again, because it just makes life a bit easier than faffing around with tarps etc.
Sorry about the video quality here: everything conspired against me in editing this video. The Apple SD card reader I normally use for transferring the content from the GoPro broke (overpriced piece of junk!) so I couldn't do my normal editing workflow (I usually use LumaFusion on an iPad), and I was loathed to hand Apple any more money for a replacement.
I initially attempted to use the new Android/Chromebook version of LumaFusion instead, but it's still in beta and quite buggy, and rendering the final movie doesn't work properly yet. So I reverse engineered the LumaFusion project file, wrote a python script which extracted all the clip start/duration times from there, and used ffmpeg to cut and join from the source video files to make the final video. On the plus side this has meant a decode/encode cycle has been skipped (ffmpeg can do stictching without re-encoding), but on the downside it seems to me that a lot of the transitions between clips are jerky - there's a bunch of times where it appears the frame freezes which I found very frustrating.
Unfortunately I got to the point where I just couldn't devote any more time to getting this video out, but I hope it's still just about watchable despite that.
