A magnificent site, the Menengai Crater outside of Nakuru, Kenya provides a spectacular lookout of the surrounding countryside.
Looking down almost 500 metres, and at expansive area of 90 sq. kms, visitors are treated to observing a caldera, a volcano's crater that collapsed. In the 8000 years since this seismic activity, this sinkhole has transformed into a lush environment suitable for farming and livestock grazing.
Though short of time for a full-day hike into the bottom of the crater, Matt enjoys the liveliness at the top of Menengai before a short descent to observe some rural farmland.
