Mix one part smooth Irish session, one part spicy cajun-zydeco, one part hot western swing, with two parts driving southern old-time and take it down to the local dance hall. There you have the Mean Lids, a young, energetic acoustic trio from central Illinois. Playing a mix of original and traditional tunes, the Mean Lids produce an exciting, unique sound born from the living traditions of American fiddle and dance music.

REMARKS: The Spanish Ballroom is a superb dance venue. Built in 1933 and restored in 2003, the art deco style ballroom has a wonderful 7,700 SF sprung maple floor which can easily handle 6 lines of contradancers.

Contrastock 3 was an all day contra dance event sponsored by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington with three great bands ("Tidal Wave," "Mean Lids" & "Giant Robot Dance") and three great callers (Janine Smith, Sarah VanNorstrand and Beth Molaro). This was the last contradance in "Mean Lids'" set (the second band of Contrastock 3). What a Wonderful Great Day of Dancing!
